Hi drewv1736 and welcome to HQ!
How about we start by you giving us some more information.
1. Do you have a modchip installed?
2. Do you have a softmod installed (software hack).
If you DONT have a modchip or a softmod you will not be able to install anything to your xbox and your will also NOT be able to FTP and transfer files to and from the xbox..
Once you get a modchip or softmod installed you can then use the AUTO INSTALLER DELUXE v2.0 (http://www.aid.xbox-hq.com) to install apps, dashboards and emulators to your xbox from a dvd-r/cdrw you burn and boot in your xbox dvdrom drive..
Anyway, its very simple to use AID2..
full tutorials and manuals with screenshots are available on the aid2 website.

- You can use the router as long as it has a spare port to plug the xbox
into.

You dont need to manually install the files any longer.. use AUTO INSTALLER DELUXE v2.0 from http://www.aideluxe.com
Once you get the .iso file burn it to a CDRW or DVD-R and boot.
follow the instructions provided on the AID website.
Thanks so much for the info and for not gettin mad at me for bein a noob i dont have a mod chip installed and @ the risk of soundin like a bigge( nr noob i dont really know what a software mod is or where id get one

A software mod is using software exploits to basically trick your Xbox into thinking it's modded. Some people really like this method, I on the other hand prefer a mod chip install.
You should take some time and read up all you can on both before making a decision which way to go.
Understand the pro's and con's of both. Understand what can go wrong and what you have to do if something does go wrong. You don't want any surprises.

hi drew,
I would recommend purchasing a premodded xbox yes.. But make sure you get what you pay for.. I have noticed alot of guys buy premodded xboxes and they say they have modchips until we open them and find out that they DO NOT..
They get ripped off.. Poor buggers..
ModGod on the otherhand is a kick ass modchip installer and i would recommend him to any of the guys here on HQ! Great work and even better support.
anyway, if your thinking about buying a premod speak with themodgod about it or browse his store:

You definitely sould like a good candidate for a premod. But, like forahobby said, this is an extremely buyer beware market. Because modding is not mainstream retail you really are rolling the dice when you buy a machine from someone.
A: you don't know the person you are dealing with. It is a lot easier for someone to rip someone off that they will never see face-to-face. You aren't going to a brick and mortar store so you have little recourse if ripped off.
B: you don't have a lot of Xbox lingo knowledge, so a less than honest person can use that to get you inferior product
I have heard so many horror stories about people buying mods online, you just wouldn't believe it. Even if you don't buy from me or someone else reputable from this site, here are a few things to always consider.
Make sure you pay via PayPal. You can get some added protection. PayPal tends to protect the buyer more than the seller...trust me...this I know...lol.
Use a credit card or debit card when paying through paypal. That way, you get the added protection from your banking institution.
Know exactly what you are getting. Know what model mod chip, how old the Xbox is, what the manufacture date is if it's a used piece, know if anything has been refurbished... Ask about warranties. What HD is being intalled, is it new? What chip is being installed, is it a clone, was it purchased from an authorized reseller.
What is coming on the HD? Do you have to flash the mod chip or is it already done for you? Is the HD preconfigured or do you have to load everything yourself? These are all very important questions.
Before you order, also think how you may outgrow your machine. If you are price conscience and only have a small amount of money to work with consider waiting before settling for a smaller HD that you may outgrow in a month or so. Don't buy a machine for what you want to do today. Buy a machine for what you want to do today, and what you MAY want to do tomorrow. My suggestion is purchase a machine that has a fourth generation mod chip and a 200GB HD. You can get one new or if you want to save a few bucks, get a used one.
I have sold many used Xbox's with 200GB HD and a very reliable mod chip for $350.00 shipped.
The Xbox is purchased from GameStop. The mod chip and HD are brand new, only the Xbox is used. If you want a brand new Xbox you are only looking at 30 more dollars or so, but that is up to you. I use only fourth generation mod chips and the 350 dollar price includes a SmartXX LT OPX or X-Changer V2 mod chip and a Samsung 200GB HD. The samsung HD is the quietest HD you will never hear! I am in love with this drive!!!! 200GB is a great size to have. It will allow you to back up at least 60 of your Xbox games.
Also, the machines I sell are plug and play. Feel free to email me at sales@themodgod.com for the complete breakdown of everything. I accept paypal, check or money order. I actually have two used Xboxs in stock so I could put a HD order in for you and have your machine done in about 5 days. I don't rush my work and definitely stand behind it. I also do case modding and can put some bling bling in your gaming beast. Feel free to check out my forum posts in the case modding section of this website. You will see a lot of cases that I have done.
Feel free to ask me or anyone else here any questions that you may have. You will love your mod if you go through with getting one. You will never game the same again!! Not only will you be able to play Xbox games, but you will be able to play NES, SNES, N64, Atari, MameOX (arcade), TurboGrafix, Sega Genesis, and so much more! It's very wild!!!
later man
