If you just took it off the disk and ripped it to your pc, it most likely wouldn't work since the Xbox is written in it's own language. It's not a standard DVD. You won't have any luck trying to play a game that has not passed through the Xbox first. No DVD software can copy the Xbox games without a passthrough.
The only way I see this situation working is to use DVD2XBOX on the original then ftp to the pc, then burn it.
I know it's been said before but has to be said again just to be sure that this is not taken out of context. Copying rented games is illegal.

Ah... my bad.
perhaps it's the media, it depends upon the version of the Xbox but my V1.0 hates certain media. It's all about the reader in my case. I have to test from time to time to see what media is working best. What program did you use to burn the iso?

A tutorial to make the DVD read any media.... I'm confused. Like tricking an old V1.0 dvd unit to accept any type? I'd like to read that. I'd think if there was a way to make the original DVD unit less finicky, it would have been posted a lot. I await anxiously your findings dprules.

Its easy, you have to open up the cd rom and go to the laser pcb. THere is hard red resin covering the potentiometer (pot). Scrape that, then get an ohm reading off of it. It starts between 1200-1500 about, and should go no lower than 850 ohms about. If you do it will ruin the media. It increases the power going to the laser.

It helps, but the thompson has a piss poor mirror and laser setup.

Either www.radioshack.com or try www.ebay.com and see what kind of deals might be out there. Otherwise, I have no idea on pricing anymore. Been too long. Radio Shack if you want it today, Ebay if you can wait for shipping.
The resin pictures? That's on shortacid. Wink

Ah the wireless network selection. Man that's a matter of taste. There is a bunch of new ones out that I haven't looked at. I've run mine for around 4 years now and added the Xbox to it around 7 or 8 months ago. I find it rather reliable but like all wireless solutions (shamelessly stolen catch phrase) they have strengths and weaknesses. Check out the new "G"'s and see if they would work for ya.
