How could I surf the web using the linux distro that AID v2.0 has. Also, I have a cable modem that has drivers that you need to install in you PC. How could I install them on my linx xbox. Or do I need to buy a router.

You either need an Ethernet cable or a crossover cable.

Just use a HUB or install another network card and then SHARE THE INTERNET (ICS - Internet Connection Sharing) to your xbox via a network cable..

Its not too hard to setup but a router would be much easier..
A router can assign your xbox a automatic ip for those who dont know much about networking.

yes you can buy a nic card to share to your xbox..
Its very simple actually

1. install your nic (network) card and drivers.
2. Right click your USB Modem ISP connection and choose 'advanced' and then turn on 'ICS - Internet connection sharing'.. It will ask you which adapter you want to share on so choose your brand newly installed nic card..

Once you have done that its just a matter of setting up the xbox on the network..

Once ICS is turned on your computer ip address will be set to:
ip: 192.168.0.2
sub: 255.255.255.0

So just give your xbox similar settings.
eg. XBOX SETTINGS:
ip: 192.168.0.2
sub: 255.255.2550
gateway: 192.168.0.1 (your pc sharing interet)
dns: Same as your pc or ISP

You will need a CROSSOVER cable to connect directly to your xbox since you are not using a hub/switch or router.

A NIC card -->> XBOX nic connection MUST use a CROSSOVER no matter what.

thats about it.
Once all that is setup you download and install a ftp client like FLASHFXP or CUTEFTP (i suggest flashfxp) http://www.flashfxp.com

Install it and create a new connection
eg. Connection name: xbox
ip : 192.168.0.2
port: 21
user: xbox
pass: xbox

and press connect.. You should then be able to transfer files to and from any drive on your xbox.

hope that helps

Yes nice guide you made. One more thing I right clicked the USB Modem ISP connection, but I can not see the "advance" option where can I find ICS option.

Here is what I see when I right click the USB Modem ISP connection:
Disable
Status
Repair
Bridge connectons
create shortcut
Rename
Propertise

Right Click > Press Properties > Then there is an Advanced tab in the new window. Work from there.

Iam having a hard time FTPing to my xbox I am using flashftp and I put the IP of the xbox with is (192.168.0.2) and put for username (xbox) and password (xbox).

The settings for the xbox are
type static
IP ADD 192.168.0.2
Sub 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.0.1

Setting for my PC
IP 192.168.0.1
Sub 255.255.255.0

Also, Iam not using any FTP client on my xbox do I need to install on or what. I only go to where it says settings then I go network and stay there.

hi,

you need to have a hacked dashboard installed onto your xbox.
eg. evox, unleashx, xbox media center

Once you have one of these programs install on your xbox you can then setup the network and connect to your xbox from your pc.

You cannot use the RETAIL Original M$ (microsoft) dashboard to ftp.. It does not support ftp.. It is only for xbox live gaming setup!

anyway, download AIDeluxe 2.0 from (http://aid.xbox-hq.com) and burn it to a cdrw/dvd-r.. You can install anything and everything you want from that.

hope that gets you going bud.
