I've got a xbox system with a fried Motherboard. The hard drive was never unlocked. Is there still a way to unlock it so that the mobo can be replaced?
My only solution would be to format the old drive in my PC and copy an unlocked xbox hard drive's files back onto it. There's gotta be an easier way, Right?

Unless someone knows different (and I doubt it) you wouldn't be able to even format the old drive due to the lock. I'm afraid it's a paper weight.
Sorry. The one thing that crosses my mind is if you happen to know what the lock code was prior to it's demise. There might be a way if I look in to it hard enough, but without the code, it's a wrap dude. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

without the code theres not too much oyu could do unforuntately..
A paper weight as shark2th says.. heheh
Apart from that i have heard of places that do commercially unlock some drives with a master code.. But it would cost $$$..

if its a stock hard drive forget it if not and its worth unlocking likd a 80 gig or higher try to fix the mobo look up repairing traces also there are places u can send the hd drive to get it unlocked also if u want u can try and replace swith eeprom chips or what ever there called take the orig and put it in a new mobo if its stock just hit ebay or modgods website for a mobo hard drive combo for around 70 dollars if u want to try and repaire the trace and cant pm me and ill see what i can do

If you have access to a chipped box, you could put the Hard Drive into the Chipped box, and use slayers disk to unlock it.

no you cant. if its never been unlocked its a paperweight.
if it was locked with evox or configmagic it can probably be unlocked with a pc using the master password "TEAMASSEMBLY"
the only other way is to pull the eeprom chip off the dead mobo and solder it onto your new board _________________ .
