So, here's the situation.

I've just installed the Xecuter 3 CE mod chip using the Xapter. Now, whenever I have either drive hooked up to the IDE cable, the system reboots three times then frags.

any ideas?

Your adapter is most likely either installed incorrectly or the chip has a bad eeprom.

First, I would try holding the power button for three seconds and see if the Xbox boots up to the MS dash (you need the stock HD in).

If that works, then I would try the quick power press to boot to the chip but I would try different banks. Maybe even try holding both the power button and the eject button in at the same time and see if the chip will boot to backup.

If not, I would check the alignment of the chip.

If no luck, I would try another chip.

Hey, thanks alot...I figured it out. The problem was that the IDE cable was inputted backwards on the MoBo. I didn't even think that was possible since the HD and the DVD only insert one way.

I felt really dumb when I figured it out...I build my own comps, so I should have known better...LOL!

Wow, I thought you would have gotten a video error out of that, not a frag...

That's a new one for me!!

I think it's fragging because it can't read either drive...it knows it's there, but it can't communicate. I don't know...it works now though...sort of.

Here's my new problem: I'm sorry that I'm bugging you about this...this is my first go at doing anything with my xbox besides playing it...

I loaded the Bios (by way of network) and it loaded and worked fine...for the first couple of times. Now, the Xbox flubber screen loads with the Xecuter rox my box off screen at the bottom, then loads to the MS Dashboard. The outter swith (that came with the chip) is blue lit. The settings are on on off off off. I've tried to reflash the Bios to no prevail. Have you any ideas?

What dashboard do you have installed?

What result are you looking for? That is normal if you only have the MS dash installed. But, if you have EvoX installed, then your chip needs to be configured to boot the dash, or you dash files are screwed up and the MS dash is being booted by default.

DO NOT keep trying to reflash the chip. The X3 chip isn't one to toy with. You are going to end up screwing up a bank and then your chip will cause your Xbox to just frag (power on and off a few times and then flash red/green light).

This time, when you boot your Xbox hold the white button on your controller (also, make sure you have an authentic MS controller). This should boot you to X3 Config Live screen that allows you to tweak your options. You can just use that screen if you wish, but I'd install EvoX or Ava dash or something else on the C drive of your HD. Then just let that boot from now on.

The fact that your X is blue on the switch means your bios is loading fine.
