Hey was reading the post and am a newbie to this site. I was wondering if you can help me find information about getting my xbox to work. I basically tried updating evox and overwrote the information on the c: drive. When i restarded it it showed it being updated but it stays there. I need some possible solution to solving this problem. And if there was any way to correct it by hooking the xbox hardrive up to my pc. Please help me if you can or refer me to some experts. It has a modchip in it and all it will get me is regular games. I need to find a way to boot to a cd that is burnt.
Thank you.

It would definitely benefit you to configure a signature with what your setup is/was.
Copy and paste this in your signature, but of course change it to your specs:
Xbox Version 1.0
Xenium Ice Mod Chip
X2 4983 bios
200GB Seagate HD
EvoX 3935
Thompson DVD Drive
This way, we can see what your set up is and give you viable options to make a repair or trouble shoot for additional info if we need.

Well, thats a problem then. Your chip may have certain ways to boot, without knowing what the chip is or the boot procedure I really dont know what to tell you.
Some chips you can press the power button longer and get it to boot a different way, some chips you hold a certain button on the controller to get a different boot..stuff like that.
My best advice would be this. If you have a way you can burn the AID to different brands and types of disk that would be best. I personally use DVD-R disks. But, sometimes certain brands don't work with certain DVD drives in the Xbox so I usually have two or so laying around.
Also, you can open your machine and take a picture of your mod chip and post it. Sometimes the name of the chip is even on the chip. Let us know what color it is.
If the chip is too outdated, buy a new one. You can buy a SmartXX LT OPX chip for only 25.00 plus shipping. It's a fourth gen chip that has it's own operating system. From there you can flash it, load the AID disk and make your troubles go away.
Sorry, that's the best I can offer with what I have to work with.

you have to help these guys help you, by giving the info they need to diagnose your xbox.
*Xbox version (it matters).
*Type of chip (not just "modchip", there are tons of modchips, and they all work differently).
*etc, etc, etc. _________________ *Xbox 1.4.
*Xenium
*Maxtor 250 gb HDD
*EvoX M8
*EvoX Dashboard

I have one of early version of xboxs i got it when it came out. And its some generic cheap chip. I was running evox and tl tools is what was on my xbox. But as i said it will not get past my title boot screen. Nothing past XBOX microsoft part. I just think it is the hardrive my self since it was how it stopped booting. Is there a way to boot to dvd-rom first so that it will install the software. I have both evox slayer 2.6 final and the deluxe kit 2.0 but i need to boot to the dvd. I will try to find out mod chip i have in but what are different methods i can take.

If your chip is working properly, it could be very possible for you to do just that. It should boot the disk as long as the disk was burned properly and burned to media that your Xbox DVD Drive will read.
However, if your HD is faulty it could actually attribute to the disk failing to load. I have seen that before.
Here is what I would do since you do not know what chip you have.
I would purchase an unlocked stock Xbox hard drive. You should be able to get them extremely cheap. I have many sitting here for $14.95 including shipping to anywhere in the US.
Pop the unlocked HD in and press the eject button on your Xbox. Put the AID disk in and close it then turn off.
Now, turn your Xbox back on and see if the disk boots. If the disk does not boot, you know it's not the HD because you just installed a known good HD.
Now you can concentrate on your chip, disk that you burned, or media you burned it to.
If it were my machine and I had an antiquated mod chip. I would go to www.extreme-mods.com and purchase a SmartXX LT OPX mod chip for only $25.00!!
I would install it, flash it, and then run my installer again. If the installer still fails to load, then you know its your disk.
Sounds like a shit load of work, but that is how you have to trouble shoot. You have to eliminate one thing at a time. It's your only option at this point.
