My girlfriends father tried to softmod his box with the 007 gamesave exploit, using a tutorial i sent him. He followed the instructions step by step, and installed evox.
When he booted his box, he said the evox dash booted, but the picture was all screwed up. So he connected to the xbox via FTP and deleted the evox dash.(I don't know why either). Now when he turns it on, the M$ dash starts to boot again, but stops at the first screen ( the one with the XBOX logo i can only assume). I'm guessing that there are files that are telling it to boot a dash that no longer exsists. I now have the xbox here, I told him I would try and do some research and see if I can possibly make some progress. I've tried to restore the M$ dash with both Slayers disc and AID2.0 but it won't boot either for some reason. The only option left that I can think of is doing a hot swap, but i'm trying to avoid that as i've never done one before. I figured i'd run this by the good people of XboxHQ before doing anything else. Any ideas?? Thanks a Heap,

Jab

Hi Jab,

I wish i had more experience with softmodding mate because i would say go for the hotswap..

Also, If you have or can get hold of a modchipped xbox that would be the easiest way.

You could use SID (softmod Installer Deluxe) and AID (Auto Installer Deluxe) in conjunction with each other on a modchipped machne to install all the files he has missing..

Basically you would just grab the hdd from the broken softmodded xbox and then reinstall it in a modchipped xbox. Ive heard of it being done tonnes of times but havent done it myself yet.

anyway, ive bumped your topic now so hopefully a softmod admin can answer your question in more detail.

Just 2 quick questions b4 I can help.

1) Can your xbox still boot the 007 game
2) What softmod installer did you use?

I agree that your gonna have to use a chipped box. If it won't even get passed the startup logo thats a bit hard to fix. Wink Just a thought my box did that before but all I did was turn it off (obviously) let it sit a minute, start it again and it worked fine.

Hey guys, to answer your questions I think he used a version of Mordens 007 audio hack. I recomended AID, but he tried doing it another way. Yes his xbox still boots games but I think I know where you're going with this and as I just found out, he also deleted the game save file from his box's HDD Shocked Any ideas?? Thanks,

Jab

P.S. - Funkydopeloven, I remember that bit in the Austin Powers movie, but I believe he was trapped in a nut shell Very Happy

I'm not too sure now that you've deleted the gamesave, because the only way I could think of saving the Xbox is bu running the softmod, then runnning AID 2 to set up the MS Dash again (also re-install the softmod coz the "Install NKpatcher + MS Dash" wipes C Drive clean and totally re-installs.

Thanks for the reply DJB. While I certainly appreciate the response, I would just like to point out once more that it wasn't actually me that went on a rampage of wreckless deleting Very Happy Me and my softmodded Xbox are quite happy together and have no problems what so ever hehe. But yeah, his xbox will still boot games so i guess he's not totally screwed. That'll teach him not to dive into something without doing a bit of research first!
Thanks again mate,

Jab
