OK..So here's my problem.
I did the softmod using splinter cell, everything was fine, backups loading and everything.
The trouble started when I was trying to clean up a bit as I didn't know what to expect first time and installed everything.
As I only have the stock drive, I was trying to re-install everything with only my selected dash, emulators etc..
I used the format option on the auto installer disk, and now my X-box displays the 'Your Xbox requires service. Please call customer support' error message.
I was wondering if there's any way of sorting this out, or do I have to get a new box?
Also, I know you're gonna laugh at this one, I don't have a backup of anything on the PC although I am network enabled between the PC and the box, is there a FTP prog or something I can use to get the splinter cell save back on to the box?
Any help at all would be appreciated, even if it's where to get a cheap X-box.

Thanks for all the replies guys, but I've decided to chalk this one up to experience, and get another X-box.
My first one probably didn't have much life left any-how, as I bought it on day one, and it was making some strange noises.
I have now THOROUGHLY read the manual. and am pretty sure I know where I went wrong..You see what I did was rush straight in like a great big TIT.
Cheers again, and thanks for the great site/Software.
