If I get banned on xbox live does it ban my account or does it ban my xbox so I cant access xbox live at all?

I asked the same question and what I was told seems to be right. I got banned though becuase of my bigger HD in my opinion. And it took all of about 5 seconds for it to give me the your xbox has been modded screen.

your eeprom and hdd key have been banned and they are stored in m$ database. if you want to play on xbl again you need a new eeprom and hdd.
