can i just go out and buy any type of hard drive and have it work in my xbox, or do i have to get some special one?
well i know about the whole lockable thing, but besides that would they all be the same?

There's actually a HD database here where you can look at the HD's that work with your Xbox. Just make sure when you buy it that it is ATA and not SATA.

i think all ATA drives would work, just not all are lockable

Here is our hard drive database that will list you drives that other members have been able to lock.

Just look for one of these drives. If you cant find a drive that you like on here, just pick a drive from a store, write down the model number and try this database. It's older than ours so it has mroe results.

Also, make sure you don't buy an SATA drive.... I remember not paying attention to details once and bought one of those just based on a sale..
