Hello everybody,

I just bought a fried box (it was un-modded), they said that they were playing a game and it just shutdown...? I paid $20 for it so its not a huge loss if I don't get it working. I took it apart and replaced the power supply out of a 1.6 but nothing happened... then I used the fried box's PSU on the 1.6 and I ended up ruling out the PSU because it worked... I think it may be the MOBO because I also tested the DVD drive and HDD in the 1.6 and they tested fine also. I just can't find any burn/spark marks on the MOBO or PSU anywhere??? Maybe someone has had this problem before and could help, greatly appriciate it.

I would try this.

On the lower left side of the chip that is labeled Xyclops there is a resistor that is labeled 2T

It is very tiny.

Desolder it.

Find a resistor labled 2A and put in it's place. It could very well just be the standby resistor shit the bed.

The 1.6 has quite a few low tolerant resistor/transistors...

Look for the 1.6 resurrection guide by TeamXodus It will give you a more clear picture than the one I put here....

ModGod,

That's kind of funny, because last night I was looking at your post but couldn't find the chip named Xyclops on the board at all. Is that chip only on the 1.6's? Because, I don't think the busted box I bought was a 1.6, actually I have no clue what version it is.

yeh, best to check the versions as different psu's are for different versions, so don;t rule out the psu yet.
