Hello ma famlay @ Xbox-HQ!
Okay, I am VERY new to this scene of modding XBOX's...So I would like to take the Soft-Mod approach. I am going to be using the game "Mech Assault" to Soft-Mod my XBOX. Basically, the reason I would like to Soft-Mod ma XBOX is so I can run Linux on it to surf the web. Now, I am going to try this> "http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/article1568.html" with Mech Assault. I have action replay, but don't know exactly what folder to copy over to the Action Replay device. Can anyone help? I am seriously confused.
I opened up the UDATA, then I see a folder named "4d530017". Now, that does contain files...But there is another folder named "62D648EBF155" that contains more files. I need to know what files/folders to copy over to my Action Replay device. I also downloaded Xebian from "http://www.xbox-linux.org/", and that is the Linux OS I would like to use on my XBOX. I have Mech Assault, but I am not sure where to go from there. I also don't know how to put the Xebian on a CD. I mean, I DO know how to burn, but I heard that with a .ISO you need to do a special burn, and I don't have any software. Could someone help me step by step with this or post a tutorial? Another question, do I need ANYTHING more than the linux OS and the UXE auto-installer to run Linux and surf? Sorry for all the questions. Thanks everyone!

If someone helps me get this thing working I am SO going to be a lifetime member, becuase I heard that XBOX HQ works really hard for their customers

I've never softmodded, but I checked this tutorial and with the exception of installing a larger hard drive, it should take you where you want to go.
It suggests all the tools needed. There is also a XBOX-HQ softmod software available, but I'm not sure just how far in the process it takes you. I presume it would do most of the work for you. For burning DVD's I would recommend Nero personally. It's never failed me.

I don't have a DVD burner...Do I need one in order to make a bootable .ISO for the XBOX?

First question: Getting the uxe file on your action replay, using the software that came with your action replay just drag and drop the game save into the left column of your action replay software. It will tell you if it is a valid save or not. IF it is not valid just open the folder and try the one inside. Do this until you find the right save. If in doubt open a game save from your xbox and compare the structure the uxe game file will have a similar layout.
Second Question: You can boot regular cd's once you have softmodded your xbox. You don't need any special software to burn xbox isos. You only need the special software to create them. SO if you downloaded a cd iso then you'll be fine burning it with your cd rom burner.
