Hi,

I was stupid enough to get caught with my Modchip on while on XBox Live. I know there is no way to reverse the ban but I was wondering if I buy a new one would I still be able to sign on with my original gametag?

I originally thought no, but I tested it and I am able to use my realmccloy which was I deliberately got banned under on a different machine. Then, bought a virgin machine and modded it, logged into live with my realmccloy gamertag and all is joy.

I pay by the year, so I am glad otherwise I would have had to try for a refund.

I've been doing a lot of reading into this as I'm trying to get myself unbanned :S

From waht I've read they originally banned the EEPROM based on whether you were running an illegal bios or not. From what I've been reading and my personal experience they now also check to see if the hard drive is the same as the one you signed up with, and will actually ban the HDD serial no. as well when you are banned, so getting back on now means you need to get a new EEPROM (about $10, PM me if you want the details of a guy i trust) and a new Hard Drive.

That's how I understand it anyway
