You are getting error 9 beacuse the HDD is unloacked and has no data.
1. Eject CD tray
2. Insert Auto Installer Deluxe disc
3. Turn off Xbox
4. Turn on Xbox
5. Follow steps forahobby gave you:
Quote:
DO THIS FOR A LARGER HDD:
4. Open xbox and remove retail hdd
5. Install new hdd taking note to match all settings with the SMALLER RETAIL XBOX HDD.. (jumper settings are normally CS cable select)
6. Once installed just connect everything back up as normal.
7. Put the AIDeluxe in the XBOX DVDROM drive and boot it.. You may need to turn on and off your xbox a few times to make sure it reads the DVD-R in your XBOX DVDROM drive.. Smile
8. It will detect a new hdd and ask if you want to format.. CHOOSE YES! Smile
9. Once formatted the first thing yuo want to install is
ok once thats done go back to MAIN MENU of AID and choose
- 'Install Dashboards' again
- 'Install EVOX Dash'
- 'Install EVOX Dash to f:\'
ok once thats done go back to MAIN MENU of AID and choose
- 'Install Applications'
- 'Install ALL APPLICATIONS'
- 'Install applications to f:\'
ok once thats done go back to MAIN MENU of AID and choose
- Lock/Unlock HDD
- Then choose to lock the new xbox hdd..
If you can find the lock/unlock tools on AID there is a application called CONFIG MAGIC which locks your xbox hdd..
hope that helps..

Hey guys,
Im still haveing problems putting my new HDD (200GB) in my xbox, I know my X3CE modchip as well as my bois supports this big of a HDD.
As of now I havent done anything with the retail HDD or AID other then Unlock it (retail HDD) useing the AID screen I got when I put the AID disk in.
Heres what Ive done I turned the xbox off removed the retail HDD. With the 200GB HDD I moved the pin bridge to what Im pretty sure is CS enabled, I then hooked up the IDE cable and power cable, pressed the CD tray eject button( at this point I got the flubber and my HDD started makeing the zeep zeep noise), put AID disk in, closed the tray (by now I have a error screen)
Ive tried turning it on and off with the disk in but i just end up with the error screen.
I must be missing a step here or something.
thanx guys

hi,
you arent missing anything at all.
You should just be able to insert the AID and boot it with your new hdd installed..
What sort of hdd is it?? Is it a standard PC IDE DRIVE??
Im hoping so.. Not some ATA HDD..
My HDD that i want to put in is a Maxtor 200GB HDD, which i bought off of modchipman.com. This is their description of it:
"The hard drive comes ready with an image of your XBOX on it, just plug and play and your xbox will go from stock 8-10gb to a 200gb drive! Evox dashboard and utilities are not included."
There are other options i have for the jumper thing:
No Jumper=DS (SLAVE)
DS (MASTER)
CS Enabled <---- what i have it set on
Cap Limit
Just to make sure we're on the same wavelenght explain "boot it" and what exactly you mean by HDD "installed".

Hi,
It sounds like you can boot the AIDeluxe with your retail hdd installed so mmmmm.. You have unlocked your old retail hdd which is good Since you unlocked your retail hdd you can use it in your pc or another xbox if you like..
Really you just need to look at the settings (JUMPER SETTINGS) on your original retail xbox hdd and then make sure that you use exactly the settings for the new one.. Just remember that all hdd's have different spots to be in 'CS' (cable select). Read the sticker on top of both drives..
Anyway, if you can boot with your retail xbox hdd installed you should be able to boot with your new 200gb hdd no probs..
Just do this again.
1. Have your retail (small) hdd installed
2. Boot or load the AIDeluxe in your xbox dvdrom drive with your modchip enabled(this is just to make sure you can boot it ok)
3. Once it loads to the menu you know its time for next step
4. Remove the retail hdd
5. Check the jumper settings on the RETAIL XBOX HDD (small).. Read the label on top to make sure you know what the jumper setting is for it
6. Now grab your 200gb and make sure you get the same settings, read the sticker on this hdd too.. They may be totally different..
7. Install the 200gb HDD and all cables
8. Turn on your xbox with your modchip enabled
9. Insert the AIDeluxe DVD-r and then restart your xbox
10. A menu will appear and ask you if you want to format..
Your so close.. I dont understand whats going on here.. Its really very simple unless your x3 has some extra options or something to do this (but i doubt)
"boot it" = put a dvd in your xbox dvdrom and load it.. You may need to turn off and on your xbox twice for it to boot the Aideluxe depedning on the media (brand of dvd-r) you are using.
Are you familar with the X3 Control Panal aka X3CP? If you are, I think my modchip is enable if the button is in the out postion and it is red, or am I worng? Buttons 1 and 2 are pushed in and are blue, 3 and 4 are out and show no color (I know that those are just my banks, but figured Id tell ya)
Also ya Im about 98% sure I have the JUMPER settings right.
If when I turn on my xbox, open the CD tray, place AID disk in and close it. AID does not autoload, to get the AID main menu screen I have to trun it back off and then on again and then it will come up. (ALL OF THIS IS WITH MY RETAIL HDD INSTALLED)
Now what I did next after the above is (with xbox still on) i disconnected the retail HDD and hooked but the new one and i heard it spin on and then my menu screen locked.
I then turn the xbox off and then on again and it again went zeep zeep a few times and i got the error page again.
If so how do you get config magic before you even burn AID onto a disk? Cause the only place I found config magic is in tools on the screen that comes up when I boot the AID disk I made.
