Ok, so my friend has an xbox he bought from some guy. My other friend was screwing around somehow go to a BIOS deleting screen by accident now my friend's mod chip doesnt work . I was just wondering if someone could get me started. There is a LED, and 3 sets of switches for the modchip coming out of the bottom left of the xbox. There is Enable/Disable , Protected/Unprotected, and Bank1/Bank2 .. I was wondering if this information is sufficient to figure out what type of modchip he has without opening up his xbox. Secondly, once i know which modchip he has, if its not too much a problem if you could direct me which BIOS to download. From there as long as i know im flashing the right BIOS to the xbox , I can figure out the rest. THanks for any help =)

hehe i'd recommend opening the box and checkign out the chip and then you can also determine what version xbox it is. and next time you might wanna flip that switch that says protected/unprotected to protected so this doesn' happen

yeah, its not mine. its my friends and our other friend wasnt really thinking of what he was doing, and me being the computer guy, i have to fix it :-S. Yay .. i think if found out which modchip just cause of the interface from the front, i dont know what version of xbox it is tho :-S , does that make a difference?

You have an Xecuter 2 series chip by the sounds of it. You will need to find out what version it is tho. so you will have to open it and use the version detection tutorial.
try flipping the bank 0/1 switch and see if that helps.
Click on Xbox swf tutorials above and use the version detection one.
if it will not boot from either bank, you will need to buy and Xecuter 2 programmer.

Ok, so lets say i find out what type of version my xbox is .. THe Cd-rom still opens on boot which Ive read being a sign as a successful modchip instllation, is it as simple as just doing that CD BIos thing as mentioned here http://www.xbox-modchips.com/tutorials/x2_2_flashbios_v1_0.htm ?

Ok i Tried doing the CD Thing, the cd drive opens on boot, but with the cd in containing the BIOS.bin and ABC.dat .. nothing happens. The xbox just says it doesnt recogonize the CD. I just guessed the version of the xbox because its too old to be a 1.6 .. so i know its not going to be the 1.6 BIOS, but the general bios for all the ones before 1.6 Yes its a Xecuter 2 Chip by comparing the external interface that I can see sticking out of the xbox its either a Lite or a Lite +

Any ideas? Cause the CD BIOSes are doing nothing .. and i followed the right steps got the right BIOSes off eMule, setup nero exactly as the guide said.

I would not trust any bios from emule to be honest, If your a VIP member here you can download a bios disk pack and just burn the iso, much better idea
Use the one for X2 4983.06 if you are sure you do not have a 1.6

Ok, ive been looking at more tutorials and im starting to recognize some stuff. The BIOS was deleted through EVOLUTION X so does that mean the modchip bios was taken off or just the dashboard or am i talking out of my butt.

it was through that menu that he deleted the BIOS> and the screen came up saying DELETING BIOS
