Ok, I am getting a bit bored of booting up splinter cell every time I want to play emulators so I am thinking of installing the softmod. (My friend just got a dvd all format writer in his desktop so I could use that to write a dvd )
My question is this. If I use one of these auto installers and burn it, when my xbox is UNMODDED, does it like boot from the cd and let me do x y and z???
I will obviously need to restore the c:drive backup when I want to go on xbox live. Can this be done by just booting up the xbox once it is modded (with no cd in the drive).
Also, when I want to restore the softmod, can I just do it by putting in the auto installer cd again??
Also, could I make the backups go to a different drive other than e?????
Basically Im looking for a easier way to do things

With a softmod you don't need to use a dvd, but if you're wanting to use the Auto Installer Deluxe then you will need to install the hacked dash via soft mod and once that is complete your xbox should read the dvd (minus any compatability issues).
I don't think that the xbox will read you burned dvd unless you have either installed a mod chip or installed the softmod.
Once the softmod is installed you can ftp your emulators over to you xbox.
If you want to go on live then just restore your "clean" xbox from the backup that the softmod gives you for an option.
Hopefully I answered some of your questions, although it could just be me rambling.
