I have a modded xbox, so with a 120G HD so I was being as helpful to a friend as I could. I decided to help his mod his Xbox and put a 160G HD in it.

I ran config mag on his old HD got the porper EEPROM and FTP to my comp. Then I installed his new 160G on my box and loaded his old EEPROM onto it. Worked GREAT! His xbox is now a well oiled machine.

I had done this to my father-n-laws xbox also and had a really bad thing happen. I plugged in my modded xbox with my modded HD and got an error 16! I thought to myself for a moment, I have a modded xbox, why won't it read my HDD. I then just tried to reformat my 120GHD but it still wouldn't read it. So after much pain and anguish I just formatted an old 120 G I had laying around. Well Surprise when I helped out my friend just two nights ago the same thing happened. My xbox won't read my HD. It won't let me set up an FTP or anything, and I know from experience that reformatting my HD won't work. I've of corse made copy's of all my info backed up my EEPROM and all that... but I have no known way of getting my HD to read.

Any suggestions...and P.S. I love this site

Sounds like you need to put your original EEPROM back on your chip since you said that you backed it up you should be safe. I didn't notice if you actually put your original EEPROM back on so reinstall your original EEPROM and you should be good to go.

How do I go about doing that if I can't FTP? I'm using the X-Chip so I can connect to it via USB however as far as I know my range there is limited.

Yes I'm using the X-Chip. I can USB new bios but am unaware of being able to FTP anything. I have a Evox disk that I used to set up my new Hard drive way back when, however had since switched to UnleashX. The Evox disk will not let me FTP though. What should I try... any suggestions would be helpful.

P.S. for some unknown reason it will read the Evox boot disk but not my AID boot disk
