But if anything does go wrong, then you will be out of luck, as you can't copy from the mem card to the hard drive. _________________

This is not true, because you can't copy it to your Harddisk anymore.
If you ruine anything you only get a error message or you can boot with a Original game.
So indeed you can startup an original game, but the savegame to starup the FTP isn't there anymore, and then you still have a little problem!!

Ive gotten my splinter cell game to read off the memory card, without it being on the HD. I softmodded my little bros box and took the save off the HD so if he messes it up I can boot from the memory card. _________________ Xbox v1.0

How do you access the game save from the memory card in Splinter Cell? I thought you could only access the game save if it is directly on the harddisk.

I turned a usb drive into a memory card and turned port 4 into USB then when game loads it reads it or you can use the M$ dash to copy it to the HD without FTP _________________ Xbox v1.0

This is a bit off topic, but I just ran across 2 people selling your Auto Installer Deluxe discs on ioffer.com One guy is selling the disc for $50 and another guys is selling the same disc for $23. Just thought I'd post this as I know DJB will read it.

does the usb drive need to be fatx
formated? and is it risky in anyway
to install the driver to a pc to do
this? I don`t know jack about pc`s
but that sounds like a neat device
to have in case of the dreaded.
i allready have a couple of usb
adapters that i`ve made, I`m using
one right now for my wireless keyboard, (i typed out over 200 posts using my xbox joypad, LOL)

Yes this was discussed in another thread....I'll look for it and post the link, but when you buy one you plug in in to the xbox straight out of the box and the xbox formats it. Not every usb drive works though. _________________ Xbox v1.0
