Hi guys, im new here. Love this site. Well I have a normal XBOX with the new dash 5960. Need help getting this softmod to work.. i used the SID V2 and everything looks ok, tried different original games ( NOT Clasics or greatest hits) with AUF gamesave and mechassault and unleash x run perfectly , do the MS backup and when i install the softmod, always have a UNRAR FAILED in dvd2xbox i think. Tried everything ...ftp the game save to my xbox, use action replay too, i downloaded the SID v2 from torrents , xbins many times to make sure theres not a corrupted file. Unrar the files in my pc and all are ok... now i always have the same "unrar error" when i try to install the softmod either with AUF 007 or MECHASSAULT.. read almost all the tutorials and threads here but have no luck finding the problem. Im missing something here? Can someone help me with this PLEASE??

I do know that some of the action replay memory cards do not handle SID very well because of the size of it.
I have however successfully used it on an Official Xbox Memory Card and Mega X-Key. All I could suggest is try those.

But didn't he say he tried FTPing it straight to his XBOX? Ruling out the AR problem?

That somewhat rules out the AR problem, it depends on if he ftped straight into his box, or to another box and then transfered it to his unmodded machine. The only thing I can think of would be for you to load up the softmod menu again, and then ftp into the xbox and upload the save once more. It definitely sounds like a transfer problem, especially if you can unrar it on the pc. _________________

Thanks for helping me... i Do the ftp transfer again and have the same problem, with AUF 007 save and Mechassault save in the same point of the extract. Downloaded the SID v2 package again and the unrar in my pc and it unrar fine but again the same problem with the xbox.. really i dont know what is.. the only thing curious to me is that wichever game i choose to do the softmod ( auf 007 or mechassault) they give me the same unrar error in the same exact point of the unrar. Two gamsaves = same exact error ? i tried ftp the files directly using the soft mod and using the old gamsave for AUF 007(evox), transfer is fine, so i dont know whats the problem here?????? i really want to do this... its quite a challeng.. well hope one of you guys can help me out with this.. thanks againg. ANY IDEAS?

Hmm transfer problem, maybe... i use a crossover cat5 cable to connect my xbox to the pc, ftped files directrly from pc to xbox using a ftp conection in My network places..(PC-->CABLE-->XBOX....) is there a program to transfer the files from my pc to the xbox ??? i know is not the cable because i used for many things and works fine... maybe transfer to my xbox is the problem because the files unrar fine in my pc ... what type of method or program you guys use to transefer files to xbox? i need to use some type of program for suscefully transer a file to the xbox? or my method is fine?

Me too, I am getting the exact same error at the exact same point of the install. I had a friend transfer the two splinter cell files to an official MS memory card. The splinter cell game save works fine in that it allows me to launch the installer. Then I used the option to back up my MS C drive info. But I get the error in the next step when I try to install the soft mod. The progress bar gets to about 15% done and then shows the error. Now my C driive is missing the MS dash board and if I try to power up my xbox without a game I get the error 13 screen. I assume I can restore C, but I havn't tried that yet.

Hmmm... interesting.. more people got the same problem.. land_shark, just load the softmod again and use the restore ms dash backup option.. When i try to install the softmod the bar only gets about 10 % or 15% like you land_shark and shows the unrar failed error 0... need help here guys .. it's a corrupted gamesave or its an xbox problem????? i downloaded like 10 times from different locations, used AUF 007 and Mechassault..ftped the gamesaves directly, used action replay, used oficial memory card and i still get that problem in the same exact point?? so any ideas??? i want to do that softmod so bad

Yes we have the exact same problem. It is obviously hanging when it gets to the DVD2XBOX rar file in the installer. I can unrar this file fine on my PC. For some reason it does not like that file and then aborts the instal on my xbox. What would happen if the DVD2XBOX rar file was removed from the install package? Have you tried an older version of SID?

I'm bringing out ONE last version alongside Auto-Installer Deluxe v2.0
It'll be called Softmod Installer Deluxe v2.0 Lite, which will basically just install the softmod and nothing else. Then you have to use AID 2 to do the rest.
Just hang in there...

I figured it out! I have been having the same problem, so what I did was unrar all of the files in the UDATA folder under the folder 000000 -> files -> apps.rar, evox.rar, softmod.rar, etc. After those 5 .rar files were extracted I deleted DVD2xbox and re-rared all 5 files. (apps.rar, evox.rar, etc.) then I ftp'd those files to the xbox and tried it again. Everything worked. If you are having problems softmodding the xbox because of the unrar error and this isn't much help, please email me and I will help you out. my email is petemc25@hotmail.com

ms dash as you don't really need
it. as long as you have a backup
of it somewhere.
