Posted: Fri Apr 01, 2005 8:26 am Post subject: Im about to pull an office space move on my box.
I got the X3 chipand installed it. I could not get it to work on my box. I either have a 1.4 or 1.5. It wouldn't even boot into the cromwell bios. I installed it onto another mother board and It booted fine. So we figured an solder issue. We then Flashed the chip with the x3 bios and it worked with my upgraded hard drive...but it was on the other mother board. We then resoldered everything and we could get the ship to boot but not with my upgraded drive. We put another hard drive from a buddies xbox in and it booted fine. We are so confused. My box wont boot up M$ dash with the chip dissabled. So confused.

no idea about your problem, but i am having the same feeling for completely unrelated reasons my problem is my ftp speed has dropped to laughable speeds for no apparent reason *cries* i jsut got Doom 3 and it will take 3 days to trasnfer to hdd at that rate. i don't know what changed since an hour ago but my xbox decided it hates me for some reason. hope someoen can help you out mate. hang in there.

If you have a 1.5 Xbox you have two extra wires to solder, otherwise the chip will not boot.

1) make sure your doing the proper install for your version xbox:
that is strange... what speeds are you getting? have you tried other FTP clients?
i like the C-XBOX TOOL FTP client it hasnt failed me yet.

200 kbs on Qwix with avalaunch i said screw it and let it run while streaming a movie in Xbmc and my speeds picked back up to my normal slow 2000 kbs, weird. still can't figure out for the life of me why i'm not getting 10000 kbs transfers though like i should be, but i learned to live with that

I am 95 percent sure that i have a 1.4. We tried the chip on a 1.0 and it has the same problem. We got it to run to flash the bios onto it and then it stopped working after that. We have checked traces, all banks and everything on both boards and there is nothing.

1) you can be 100% sure by checking the link i provided.
2) what bios bin did you use? (x3 3029 or x3 3029 v16)

well im 100%sure then because the chip runs and every thing. I get into the cromwell and try to flash but nothing happens. So then i try to boot up again and im getting the same problem i had before. Now i try the 256 backup and it goes to cromwell and im getting hard drive errors for it wil my original. My maxtor says it has a petition error. I try to FTP to it and it freezes everytime. I get different numbers og P's at the end of the text when i do this. Is it some kind of error code. I tried to flash with the non-1.6 version of the bios.
