Hey guys, I am looking for some help to do a hard drive swap. Basically, I’d like to know what is the best way to go about this. I’ve searched the forums for this and gone through the tutorials, but nothing seems to have really helped me. I do not have access to a chipped xbox, so that option is out the window. I found a lengthy tutorial, but after reading it, I don’t feel to confident about doing that method; the problem is is that it seems like the only way to do it. The tutorial is by bad-hex on how to replace a hdd without a chip.

The thing that I’m not sure about is this
"It is important to not use any bios loaders, font hacks, sound hacks, or anything like this as we need a pure key generated for your xbox harddrive."
Does using the mech assault exploit do this??? i really don't know
this isn't the only thing that bothers me, but if there are any easier ways of doing this please let me know, thanx
Extra info
I successfully softmodded my xbox today using the softmod deluxe installer v2.0 and used many of the useful tutorials from this site. I used the mech assault exploit to do this.
Currently have unleashx dash and I think I got evox running too.

there's a program for the pc that
requires info from your box along
with its own to make a boot disk
used to do this.
i've done it myself so i know
it can be done, it was in a post
called "Best way to swap ur HDD"
it was in the softmodding forum.
sorry that i'm unable to provide
a direct link.

You basically have two options available to you.
Option 1 is to get xboxhdm 1.9 and use your PC to format the new HD. A great tutorial can be found at http://how2xbox.com/harddrive.htm
Option 2, if your xbox is pre version 1.6, is to look for chimps solution. This is a signed program you run on your xbox that allows you to hotswap your HD.
Good luck. I used option 1 and had my 160gb drive working first time on my softmodded 1.6
