Oh am I green! Introduced to the wonders of a modded xbox by a friend I deciced that I would mod my own x box rather than pay someone to do it for me. Where do I start? (I write this to help other newbies) The mod was not that terrible, the x3 with a pin header was tedious but I took my time and inspected and resoldered my first six solders, but I got a good install the first time. Here is where the trouble starts. In creating my flashbios disk I probably ruined 8 or 9 dvd+r, flashed it once got a frag, regular dash would work without the chip. Why? Didnt have a dummy file, and did you know you have to uncompress .rar files? I didnt. But try try again. Now I have a 160 gig hard drive and am working on ftp my xbox back up to it. so far so good, not with out mulitple attempts mind you. But I write this as encouragement to all the others out there. Xbox hq as been a huge help thanks to all the posters out there.

HEy Buddy,
Thanks for the information for all of our newcomers. IT's undortunate you had to waste so many dvd+r's, but hey that's the name of the game. I did the same thing when i first started out, but here's the bright side: After you waste about 20 more.... you'll be able to burn anything with ease and not make a single mistake in the future! All your friends will be the envy of you. Keep up the good work.

dont forget to lock your new hard drive, and if my dvd drive was repaired the system would be working great.

Man i had to soldier 29 wires in the old days with one of my first mods..
29 wire enigmah it was.. heheh lol
I also burned about 50-60 CDRW's because i didnt have a DVD-R burner at the time so you can imagine how pissed i was about it.. heheh .. In the end media was always my problem too...

Here I am again.
Everything works well except for a couple tweaks/problems.
1. X# chip boots to x3 config live on startup.
2. Mechassault will not play from harddrive get black screen and a non responding xbox (all of my other games do play)
A couple reminders from a noobie to the noobies.
I backed up my oem harddrive to pc before anychanges were made to it.
I still have it untouched in case of a tragic accident.
TAKE YOUR TIME SOLDERING. It isnt terribley difficult and there are great tutorials linked from this web site to others.
I had so much fun tomorrow I am going to install another X3 in a friends xbox, I should have the install time down to less then 36 hours

You have to set X3 config not to come on each time, go into the X3 bios settings I think it is and disable automatic x3 start or something to that effect.
With the game what region are you in NTSC? is the game from your region? You may need to change your video settings in evox
