Posted: Mon Mar 07, 2005 12:39 am Post subject: Can't use CD-R or RW on xbox 1.0 FTP to HD?
I can't seem to get my drive to recognize any CD's of any brand or type. I've tried burning 2 different installers. 1 being ultimate boot cd 4.0 and tried auto installer deluxe 1.01. Can I just extract the files from the iso and FTP them to the HD and run them from there?

Yes, you can.
Just use a program like CXboxtool2 or whatever .ISO program you like.
In the burning issue though, I find that DVD-R's work best....very rarely do I get issues, even with the cheapest brand names ones. I buy these ones called SpinX for 14.98 per 50 disks... I have had problems once, with someones older Phillips drive. However, I been using them in other Phillips drives without issue.

Well that seemed to work. Will see if i can figure out how to get things installed. One other question. What is the purpose of unlocking the HD?
