I had a error 21 on my xbox. I stumbled upon this site and became a newbie. My xbox is unmodded. Will auto installer deluxe work for me or will I have to soft mod it at the very least...I don't have much experience at modding so I figured that $10 for a iso file is cheaper than sending it to Bill. I am hoping to get this working without opening it up.

You're going to either have to softmod your xbox or install a modchip.

You can use Softmod Installer Deluxe v2.0 to softmod your xbox, then use auto-installer deluxe v1.01 to install apps on your hdd.

I have SID 2.0...how am I going to install it if I get an error? From what I understand I need to load it somehow like a saved game (on a memory card) or through an FTP. Is there anyway to write to the hdd by removing the hdd, hooking it up as a slave on my PC and using WinHex to re-image the drive??? I have done it with harddeives for Tivo DVRs which are locked.

hi Masked_Hacker,

If you are getting a error on your xbox and it isnt modded then you will have to install a modchip because you cant do the softmod method due to the errors your getting.. Sad

Im not exactly sure but have heard of some people selling retail xbox hdd's loaded ready with the softmod.. Smile I dont know how or if that may help you but maybe contact 'TheModGod' via pm to ask if he knows more..

If you had a modchip installed in it we could get you going in a matter of minutes with just using the AIDeluxe.. stick with it.. you will probably learn a thing or too while your here.

enjoy the site.

cheers,

If I sent it into xbox support to get it fixed they probably would just wipe the hdd and re-image it. Is there a way that I can do this myself and put an original xbox image on it. I'm not that worried about what games are saved on the hdd and then I can softmod it later. I bet all they do is have some sort of boot disc that has a image on it for the version of BIOS. They recieve my XBOX, pop a Boot Disc in it and presto a quick $100 bucks or so plus shipping. I've done it a million times with PCs...an XBOX is basically a PC. If I am wrong...can someone straighten me out???Thanks in advance for all your help...this is a great site!!!! Once I get this thing fixed I am going to mod it!!!

All I get is a message to call XBOX Support and a number 21 in he left corner...I burned a copy of Auto Installer Deluxe and popped it in to see what would happen and now I get the same message but with a number 16 up in the corner. My eject button also flashes red/green.
