I just replaced the DVD drive in my XBox. When I turn it on, the box acts normal. However, when I insert a disc, it begins to spin-up, as if to read the disc, stops, and does nothing. The dashboard is still usable, and the XBox acts as if there is nothing inside it. What does this mean?

Are these original Xbox Disks?? If not maybe it's a bad burn. However, chances are you got a bad drive maybe. Is this a brand new drive? Where did you get it from?

Here is what I would do.

First, I would try an original Xbox Disk. If it works, then its just a matter of your new drive not reading the media you are feeding it, or a problem in the way you arranged the disk.

If it does not read the orginal Xbox disk I would check to make sure my cables are connected properly and try again. If still no joy, I'd be demanding a replacement or refund. I also would insist that they eat the shipping for when you ship back the defective unit.

The guy who sold it to me says it's original XBox, and it doesn't read original games. I think I will demand a refund. maybe I'll buy one from you.

Yeh, get a refund on it and buy from someone reputable, people who have a name from themselves like to keep it. But it may have just been a case of a faulty drive, it's difficult to test everything
