ok i used config magic 1.6 and i unlocked my bros hdd and when i put it back to dashboard and rebooted it, it came up with the service screen can u help. Its soft modded and i tried to bring it up to the 1 screen by powering it on by pushing eject and it still says service and any 1 help me. see what i was gonna do is switch hdd's and now this. thanks for anyhelp

y the way its flashing green/red type. it says in xbox-scene its a bad image or chip. its softmodded and is using evox. and in the corner of the service screen it has a "05" in the left hand corner

softmodded xbox needs a locked HD.
you can't use a unlocked hd on a softmodded xbox.
So lock the hd again but make sure you use the eeprom from your bro his xbox , because the softmodded xbox will only work with a hd that has been locked with eeprom from your bro.

well it is his box and well mine is soft modded the same way how do i get the eeprom. and i cant get to connect to the xbox thought ftp. should i take out the hdd and hotswap it in mine and lock it some how

you didn't had to unlock his disk to change ,
all you had to do was ftp his C and E drive to your pc , installed evox on his xbox and made a backup from his eeprom so you could use xboxhdm to make a cd .
With this cd you can take a new bigger hd and use your pc to make it ready for your brothers xbox. (and locked)
Now you got a big problem because you don't have a eeprom backup, so you can't lock the hd for his xbox or prepare a new one

what if its a stock locked hd from another like broken or somtin xbox.

ok is there any other way to lock the hd. i put cofig magic on my box opend both up and i tried switching the hds to lock it, it didnt work. can i lock it from my comp. i just need some serious help hes naggin so bad. lol

Heya
Basically the only way you can lock it is if you have the lock password from his eeprom, no other HDD that is locked will work, as it will not know the password to unlock it.
I would just install a modchip and use that to boot to evox and lock the drive.
If you have a backup of his eeprom then there is another way but could be asking for more trouble.
I would go for modchip, otherwise his xbox is buggered.

idk what version it is but it was bout like i think a year ago for his b-day and is it soderless. and the thing is i do have his passwork for the hdd it told me 2 wright it down
