Hi Everyone.
I have a V1.6b xbox, with a Xenium Ice chip, 200GB Seagate Baracuda hdd, and an m8+bios. I recently downloaded the updated Xenium OS, but i cannot get it to work. I've tried the ISO, and i've also FTP'd it to my xbox, but neither way has worked for me. DOes anyone know how long it takes to install the upgrade? I started it and then left it for half an hour and still nothing. I've followed the Xodus manual to a T, but still nothing. can anyone help?

It has to be either the way you are burning the .iso disk, or the brand of media you are using. Or quite possibly, you have a corrupt ISO download even before you burn it.
The FTP to HD method is not reliable. I have had that one fail on me for sure, but I have never had the CD method fail on me. I always use a DVD-R. I have more success that way. Also, when I burn the .iso I also include another larger ..iso with dummy files of 200mb.
You will know when it is working because your eject LED light will flash green and red while it's updating and then the machine shuts down. It takes about twenty seconds for the green/red flashing to start then about another thirty seconds till it shuts down.

aright. I just tried checking the ISO with Craxtion, and it wasn't able to open it, so it may be corrupt. I downloaded it from the Team Xodus web page though. does anyone know where i can get a new one. I haven't checked this site yet, i will after i write this. but does anyone know where i can get a working one?

If you are having the same problem I am having here is what happened to me.
The ISO version was corrupt on the 2.3 version so when I flashed via CD method the flash didnt work and made it useless. So what I did then was open my box, detach the HDD, and flip the recovery switch.
I went and got an older XOS recovery CD (2.1 or 2.2) and put that in the drive to recover it to an older version, at least somethign that works.
Reatach your HDD.
How that you have the box running again Goto XBMC, If you dont have XBMC now is a good time to get it. Use XBMC to FTP the recovery.bin for XOS 2.3 to both your C: and F: (yeah I know it only looks to F: but it worked like a charm after nothing else did)
For some reason the XOS FTP program doesnt like to transfer its own recovery program, which is why most HDD updates never suceed. In fact UX dosent even do it well. Though everyone who has overcome the problem will say that XBMC does the trick. _________________ -Scourge "Rx = +/_\"

aright thanks, I downloaded that file and checked it with Craxtion. same thing, it can't be opened. so what i have done now is taken the recovery.bin file, and created an iso with Nero and burned that to a cd-rw. I can't try it at the moment because i'm trying to backup a game i have on my xbox to my pc. Is it supposed to take 12 hours to ftp it over? I started it when i woke up this morning, and it's still goin'. is this normal?
But i'll try the cd-rw in the morning. thanks.

ok. I've tried burning a couple different copies of the iso update from both, a cd-rw, and a dvd+rw. and neither has worked. I know my xbox reads dvd+rw's because i've tested them with a game and several other files. I've downloaded the iso from here and from the Team Xodus web page. Neither has worked. I've also tried installing it from the HDD. I've tried copying it to the C, E, and F partitions, and none of them have worked. I've tried taking the recover.bin file and making an iso with it, and that hasn't worked. anyone have any other ideas?
Could I go into my os right now, use the backup function, and then change the recovery.bin file to the one i downloaded? will that work? or will i just screw up my xbox? It's really frustrating me here.

I have a V1.6b xbox,
The 1.6b's have a timing problem with the memory (I forgot the details). I learned this from the Xodus website some time back when I was having troubles. The timing problem dosent affect the games, but it does make it hard to update the XOS. The only solution I read was that you needed to use a friends box thats 1.6 or lower to update it. Sorry about that. _________________ -Scourge "Rx = +/_\"

Do you know anyone else that uses a Xenium.
Either way IMO it isnt quite worth upgrading unless you care about passwords.
And I want the LED programmign thing to ba able to work in dash. So really you arent missing too much. _________________ -Scourge "Rx = +/_\"
