Hey all,

A while back, I bought my (56 year old) Dad an Xbox and a cheapie remote so he could watch DVDs. Then, this past fall, I got an Xecuter 2.3 Lite installed for him. Twisted Evil

Now, do you think he should be able to control playback of media (through the XBMC) via the cheapie (non-MSFT) remote? I tried it once and it didn't work, so I just assumed it wouldn't. But I want to be sure....

Thanks!

John

I did see in one of the XBMC manuals info on using the controller and/or remote. I am almost positive I saw something on that.

Try looking for some XBMC manuals for keymapping and such.

http://www.xboxmediacenter.de

Not sure what online resources they have anymore.

hi mate,

I use a cheap XBOX REMOTE to control all my dashboards including my XBMC which is my default dashboard at the moment.

It works fine.. Ive even got the Ifared plugged into port 4 and it works fine.

I was only just telling DJB about a month ago how you can use a DVD REMOTE for the AUTO INSTALLER DELUXE too.. Smile

so thats answers you question.. 'Yes' you can use a cheap dvd remote with your dashboards etc etc.

my dvd remote is a TEAM5 Xbox DVD Remote.

cheers,

forahobby

Not to thread crap, but isn't it crazy how the remote control has virtually changed our lives.

How many people here have sat and watched something that they never would in a million years all because the remote control was not in arms reach or you couldn't find it!!

I got an invention! A remote to find your remote!!
