I did the softmod on my 1.6 xbox. Running evox FTP is set to on. I can connect through the network from my pc to router to xbox using smartftp with no problems. I see all the xbox drives however when I tried to copy a game folder from the xbox to pc nothing happens. Now the dumb question: Do I need to unlock the xbox hard drive?

No you dont need to unlock your xbox hdd to transfer files.. You normally only need to unlock your xbox hdd if you want to format or transfer to another machine..
Another thing.. I used to have nothing but problems using CuteFTP and my xbox until i started using FLASHFXP.. Maybe try a copy of flashfxp to see if this is your prob.
