hi, just wanting to know why that my xbox works fine loads games from hd opens tray and so forth but when i place a game inside or dvd it doesnt read and wont eject. when i access through xbmc it tells me drive is open but reallt it aint i am not to sure if it has anythiing to do with the bios containing the bypass dvd check. the drive is a phillips but when replaced with the toshiba it works.fine. the chip is an aladdin xt motherboard 1.1-1.5 the drive worked fine on my other box which has a x2 lite chip i have swaped hds in case i have upset some settings. well it is very strange is it the dvd drive can it just die like that .

its possible it went defective. *Shrugs* if it were under warranty you could get it replaced, but seeing as how we are all modders, i think none of us have warranty's you could look around for a new drive.

thanks, dont need new drive, the prob was the ide cable it was faulty thanks for the help it got me through some tough times lol
