I'm a noob but I've read and read for hours and think I at least understand whats going on but I'd like to see a diagram showing me exactly what to solder as I install my modchip. I purchased a Super Aladdin Live chip and it came with a pin header and five small wires. I believe I have an Xbox v1.4 (because I have a focus chip and ground at pin 2 on the board). Does that mean all I have to do is solder the pinheader to the board with no other wires? Also my mod chip has a black connector on it where it would appear the the pin header would plug-in to, but I can't find any diagram where the chip looks exactly like mine. (none of them have that black connector) If not the connector than I'm assuming the pin header solders to the holes already made in the chip. Thanks very much.

BUMP
Any Aladdin installers want to help out a member??
Sorry, I wish I have installed this chip.
Typically, you can just solder a pin header in, but some chips require you to remove the number 4 pin ( I cant remember if the focus boards have a hole for the number 4 pin or not, I have done so many 1.6's and 1.0's lately my brain is farting on that one) while others do not.
I can see where this chip allows for quick soldering too, and obviously the wires you got were problaby for a wire install. But, if it came with a pin header you can certainly mount that chip on the pin and then just make your D0 connection.
But, you need to find out if you have to flash this chip PRIOR to installing. If so, you may need a programmer or something, again I don't have any Aladdin experience at all so make sure you get some more info before you jump in.
I'll see what I can dig up if nobody else steps up to the plate.

i installed one of those pieces of crap ,
figuring out the proper pins in the pinheader took a long while and i still got it wrong ,
but this is also not 100% couse you got a few manufacturers and they all do whatever they want , thats why you cant find what you need , but this should be good
besides that all you have to solder is the D0 wire and the BT wire ,

When I first decided to mod the Box I just wanted the basic chip and the aladdin seemed a cheap answer. However the more I learn from this kickazz site the more I think I may want a little more versitile chip (not to mention one that has readily available install instructions.) You think it would be worth it to just get another chip? And what do you guys think about the Xenium Ice?
Thanks for the help. _________________ xbox v1.4

The Xenium Ice is a great answer. It is one of the easiest chips to install. But, if you are looking for a less costly solution yet you want the benefits of a more robust chip, think about the SmartXX LT OPX.
I have installed tons of these recently. They are ver nice. For $29.99 you have a chip that has it's own operating system, can be flashed right from the Xbox DVD Drive, has built in HD tools, flashing tools, and so on. Very easy to install for any version Xbox.
But, you have to consider what pin header you already have soldered to the mobo. Not every chip works on the same pin header. For the Xenium Ice you will need a 12 pin pin header, and have to remove the number 4 pin no matter what version mobo you have. If you go with any SmartXX chip you also have to have a 12 pin pin header, but you only remove the number 4 pin on all version mobo's EXCEPT the 1.6. You keep all pins intact for 1.6 mobo's.
The X3 mod chip has a 16 pin pin header and there are even more pins to remove prior to installing, so as you can see make sure you can adapt your LPC area to accommodate the new chip you choose. But if it were me, I would definitely be grabbing up a different chip.
In most cases when it comes to mod chips you truly get what you pay for. The exception to the rule is the SmartXX LT OPX. I really think they could get $35.00 or so for this chip.
