Hi 2gether,
which BIOS can start Xebian under XBOX V1.6?
Tried it with M8PLUS_16 but did not work and I have heared
that Cromwell V2.4 does not work on 1.6 XBOX. Is that right?
Which alternative does exist??? With my SmartXX I can choose
Linux in a seperate point and does work correctly. But is there
any BIOS which I can use?

Any hacked bios will be able to boot XBOX LINUX..
I used to run evox bios ages ago and it booted just fine.
AS long as your xbox modchip has a hacked bios or CROMWELL BIOS you will be able to boot xbox linux no probs.
Do you also have a V1.6 box because in several forums is mentioned that you can damage your V1.6 xbox with a wrong bios that has been developed for the boxes 1.0-1.5.
I found this table (http://www.xbox-scene.com/bios_retail.html) that gives an overview. Cromwell does not appear, so I tried it with Cromwell V2.4 but when I had selected the BIOS it just told me that it would not be compatible with the hardware.
When I had selected the default.xbe of xebian by Evox it did not work.
So how can I start xebian by BIOS on my V1.6 xbox?

Hi,
as long as you can boot backups, dashboards and all other xbox stuff you should have no problems at all booting xbox linux.
XBOX LINUX boots fine on my modded xbox..

Yes this is true.. YOu must flash the correct bios for the xbox version you have... It wont stuff your xbox but it will make it difficult to reflash without a programmer..
I would suggest contact DJB on xbox-hq.com who has tonnes of experiene with xbox linus.. I used to play with xbox linux mandrake and older versions but havent had the time lately to try newer releases.

Is that an official BIOS that can be used also on SmartXX and where can I get/download it???
On the official Xebian webside they just offer the "actual" version 2.4.
Does anybody can help me?

OK guys,
I dont know why but somehow it works now without any changes.
Xebian starts now with M8Plus_16 which did not work before.
Strange but I can live with that.
