Hey, I appreciate any help that is offered.

I am in the proccess of modding a European Xbox, and had a couple of questions for anyone that could answer.

1.) Could a modded (unregestered) eropean xbox connect to xbox live from america, or does microsoft have the capability of identifying a system that is out of its region?

2.) Am i right to assume taking a European xbox apart is the same as taking an American xbox apart. A change in design would be pointless...right?

Finally,

3.) With a power supply that take 220 vlts, can i just use a plug in voltage converter to input 120 volts, or would i have to completely switch the power supply? If so, is that even possible?

Thanks,

Aeroaw

That's a good question about the region changing. I am unsure how that works. I know you have to use the hacked bios to do the switch, but unsure if after that will then make the Xbox boot the same even with the original bios.

I would have to say taking the machines apart will not differ between the machines.
I know we have a few traveling members here, mostly from the service so they should be able to help you a little more with your questions.

Hmm, ok so taking the box apart wouldnt be a problem, but can you tell me what you mean by a hacked bios? I assume that all bios that i would flash a chip with are hacked:? Heh, to be honest, i dont have the slightest clue what a hacked bios would be.

Right ok,

With regards the video region, you just need to use a prog called enigmah video switchdisc, so will work ok on ur tv, but with XBlive I would say it may need a new eeprom, but the video region change may be enough, it's a damn good question tho. Depends how anal MS were being.

There is no hardware difference at all between the boxes except the power supply, every thing else is only different in software.

A power adapter will work yes, but they can be dodgy I have heard, so you could look to change the PSU in the futurem it's an easy job, just undo a few screw, unplug a few plugs and your done.

awsome, thanks a lot for the help. Its all making al little more sense now. The program that you mentioned, enigmah video switchdisc, is that something that any modchip, lets say a recently desingned mod chip for argument sake, could run? And if so, do i need to do some work to obtain this program by downloading it or, does it come standard in a chip bios? Lastly, with a new eeprom, an eeprom is a bios that you flash your xbox with, or a completely seperate thing....

Basically the question now is how do you execute the suggestions provided such as the different eeprom and the video switchdisc program?

Thanks a lot for the help,

Anthony

Hiya

The eeprom is different to the bios, you need to find enigmah and either burn to disk and run from there or copy to to the HD, when you run it, it says press a for pal or b for ntsc, reboot and it's an ntsc machine, all you need to worry bout then is psu
