There are two ways to do it.

I prefer the router method. Because your PC is pretty much already on a network if you have a router.

You can open up a DOS window and type ipconfig

This will give you your IP Address. If your IP is 192.168.1.001 then you can configure your Xbox's IP address to 192.168.1.002

Then, you just connect a standard cat5 or cat6 newtorking cable from an open port on your router to the xbox networking port on the back.

You can use FTP software such as FlashFXP. Then connect to the xbox using the software and you can swap files back and forth.

Another way is by not using a router, but by connecting a crossover cable from your PC to your Xbox.

You still have to assign IP addresses to your machines though. Then use the FlashFXP software to do the transferring.

It's really not difficult. I know my explantion is rather vague, but if you want some tutorials when the time comes I am sure we can point you in the right direction. Just remember, if you don't have a router you MUST use a crossover cable. They look identical to the regular networking cables but the ends are wired differently inside the plug.
