the easiest thing you can do is just open your xbox and unhook the plug from the fan in the back. use a pin or some other small pin like object and remove the black wire from the plug. then loosen a screw from the motherboard and screw it back down ontop of the end of the wire you just unhooked. plug back in the plug, with the red wire still attached and your fan should now be running faster, although now noiser.

I lowered my mb and chip temp nearly 10% by installing an 80mm fan, bumping the voltage to 12 and redoing heatsink paste w/ arctic silver III. Also opening up the back cooling slots a litle helped a degree or 2. Heat is what kills electronics. Though I'm guessing MS did enough research that stock cooling is enough. I'm just bothered by 140 deg chip temps. I freak out when my pc gets above 110.

My heat usually hovers around 147 to 149 degrees for hours at a time and I have never had any issues.

The tip in two posts ago works like a charm. All you have to do is snip that wire and ground it. It really runs the fan much much quicker!!

Or, since the fan speed is also regulated by the bios you can run certain programs on your PC and open up the hacked bios to upgrade the fan speed. By default they are at 20%

You can up it to 50% and get the fan to move faster.

I'm sure you can run an xbox for years @ 150 deg w/ no probs. It's just a a mental thing. While your xbox might last 25 years I bet mine will last until 25.1 years....so there
