I understand the functionality of it but I heard that the first time you connect to XBOX Live online - M$ inspect your HD and take like a snapshot of it for later comparison.
So my questions is : If I'm using my upgraded HD (120gb) which I LOCKED already - and I go ONLINE - they take a snapshot of it and it will work . Right ? (cus it's my FIRST time !).
Now ... what will happen if I install something new in the HD ? new app ? new Game ??
Will it connect the next time I go ONLINE ? even when my HD has changed a bit ?
I definately want to go Online but I don't want to lose it so I'm considering to maybe just replace to the RETAIL HD before go online every time ... but it's a bit of a bother ... I'm trying to avoid it.
Let me know what you think. 10X.

If you really want to go online and do it the safe way, I recommend the bigger case by Xtender, which allows you to have two or three HDDs in the system at a time (with only one active at a time). This way you can use your factory HDD for Live, and keep all your apps and game copies on a seperate HDD.
From what I understand, though, people have had success with going online with a larger HDD, but only if you've never gone online with the original HDD.
I suppose you could try using one of those free trial Xbox Live things, and if it bans you, you can change your EEPROM (pain in the ass), and just go with your standard HDD for the paid service.

Are those fairly easy to install? I have my original enormous 8 gig drive untouched from when my Xbox was a virgin... ah the days... HAHAHA
I was thinking of trying something like that. Would it require that the original bios be booted to use the original drive to keep it "pristine"? _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

We have only one member that I know of who has attempted the Xtender install. I really want to start offering them, I think I am going to grab one up after Xmas. He had some issues...from what I gathered it was not a clear cut install. The directions are vague at best.
It is a solution though. Here's a thought...mod the case so that there is a compartment that can lift off above the HD area...then, you can just detatch the large HD and insert the factory one for XBL play...
ahhhhhhhhhhhh, what the hell...just buy an extra machine...lol... later all.
1 more day till I get my Xbox Media Center Extender Kit!! WOO WOO
