Hi all I downloaded the SID 5.11 exploit with the SID 5.11 SplinterCell NTSC gamesave,
I actually have the action replay software running on windows 7. My plan was to open up my OFFICIAL microsoft memory card, undo its screws and solder the green, red, yellow and white leads onto the memory card as this page suggests:
1. )The link above used had a black wire, rather than the yellow one I have. This leads me to think that the yellow wire has the same function as the black one? Do they have the same purpose or will I need a different USB to blank cable to cut?
What are everyone's thoughts on this?
2.) Finally I'm in North America and using the NTSC file with the SID installer that I download from the site:
If I wish to use my action replay software which folders do I need to unzip and which folders do I click and drag from them into the AR window? Do I unzip "SID511.Installer.zip" folder and drag its "21585554" into the AR window and then unzip "SID511.Loader.SplinterCell.NTSC" and drag its "5553000c" folder into the AR window?
Thanks all for your expertise and advice

Not to break internet etiquette by responding to my own post, but I thought I'd mention that I do have some idea of what I am doing and am not completely new at this.
I realize I put a ton of questions in one post, if it's easier on the moderators and admins, I would be more than happy to explain step by step what I am doing.
Thanks again

I have never seen that USB memory card method before. There are no good pictures showing the colors of the wires leading into the USB, so I can't even tell what color goes to what pin. I'd try to find another picture that shows the pinout of the USB so that you can line yours up to the picture.
As for the installer files, yes you do want to unzip the two files that you specified. _________________

Well if the tut says to use yellow wire Thats the wire you ignore. Red, black, green and white are the 4 you want. Yellow is an optical sensor wire and carries no data from the mem card
Also if using AR there is a good chance you will need to edit the config file to recognise and install the MaxDrive driver

Uh oh SPPV,
I need to modify one of the files in the SID installer?! I was hoping the ISOhunt download I got last night would be good enough once I unzipped the SID 5.11 file and the NTSC SplinterCell file and showed their respective numerically titled folders.
Why can you please explain I need to modify any of the files within their unzipped folders? Ideally I should not have to, but you coded SID, so obviously you know best, but I want to know exactly what to change in this "config" file you refer to, so I don't screw up the code already in it.
I am an engineering student, I can just google something you write if I don't understand :')
Should I just download Xplorer360 instead? Is that a better choice than the AR software in all cases?
Also why do I need a MaxDriver program? The helpful step by step video tutorial did not do that let me link you to it:
Hi SPPV I was not able get my Windows 7 computer to recognize the Action Replay Driver for the memory card.
I have the Action Replay Software installed. I tried modifying the "xbreader.ini" file under the section labeled "[_Devices]" in the first line to match the hexadecimal values found in USBView (idVendor and idProduct).
I still got the same error when trying to assign the driver to the memory card.
The picture shows the error I get when trying to select the action replay driver for the unknown usb device (the memory card), any advice on how to get windows to assign it the driver I want?

Yeah win7 doesnt like AR. The editing I was refering to is the AR config files. If you open them in notepad youll see the device IDs its set to instal the driver for. If yours isnt listed (should show up in USb with ? beside it in device manager) copy the device ID into the config, exact sme as you see the others and save it. If I remember correctly it only accepts 3 mem crds and 3 contollers by default. M$ should be included but I cant say for sure as I use Madcatz cards. But without that Maxdrive driver AR has no clue the ard or controller is there so no copy. Im pretty sure I have a ste by step tut with pics here on site for doing it.
For USB use the Xplorer360 and FATX formatter included in the SID download. Unzip the intaller and GS files and use Xplorer to inject the numbered folders to USB. I can confirm it works on 7 as I use Home Premium 64bit with it fine.

Hi SPPV,
A friend of mine can grab a windows xp computer for us to use with the AR software and I know AR works with xp
My problem is obtaining the MAX Drive driver that is required for AR software to recognize my memory card.
Once I can obtain the MAX Drive driver program for an XP computer I should be in business.
Do you or any other softmodding veterans know where I can obtain the software for the MAX Drive driver?
Any links they can provide would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks again

Couldn't find the MAX Drive driver software download.
If not can another admin or moderator link me to it? It's been a pain for me to try and find elsewhere online?
Thanks again

You dont need to look for MaxDrive driver, Its PART of Action Replay. If you have Action Replay then you got it already.
The isues you are having is 2 fold.
1)Windows 7 hates AR and it doesnt work on it. XP or older only
2) If you still have no luck installing the driver on XP then what you need to do is go to where Actin Replay is installed.
Open the AR config file with notepad
You will see some lnes like this
PID\173_A VID\163_1
Now open device manager you should see yellow ? when you plug in the mem car (Unknown Device) click on it go to properties and under Hardware ID you will see like above. Copy it into the config (be sure its a mirror image of the simlar lines diff ID of course) and save it.
Now Action Reply knows to install the MaxDrive driver for that card and can use it
