i have a 56k modem on my pc and i want a modchip and i dont know whaich one to get any sugestions? and can i like network my 56k to my xbopx kinda wireless type thing? any help would be good ty

Unfortunately, I don't really know of any wireless advantage you would gain with 56 internet. Fortunately, you don't even need internet connection to take advantage of a modded xbox.
You can install a modchip, flash it via the dvd rom drive, just make sure you get a modchip that can do that. Or you can install a modchip that get's flashed via an external programmer or USB cable. Once you have your chip installed and flashed, you can the use an autoinstaller to take care of installing dashboards, applications, and everything else you may need.
The only thing broadband gives you is the ability to get on Xbox Live or Xbox Connect. Neither of which you need to enjoy a modded machine.

well now i need to know what modchip to buy and i was confused over the whole internet thing cause i wanted to get the evox dashboard and i thought u needed a high speed internet to install it. anyways which modchip for me would u recomend?

Why dont u get a premod off of realmccloy? Take a quick look at his website, themodgod.com

im either going to get a soldieress mod chip like xemium ice and try to install it myself or maybe send my xbox in to have another person do it cause i dont have the money for a premodded system. im trying to figure out my version i know my serial number ends with 06 and the mfr date is 7-28-04 i wanted to figure it out without opening my xbox...any ideas? and ty for your help

Well....he will mod ur current machine how it is. I forgot to add that in there....my bad. Email him at his site and have him quote u a price for ur machine...with w/e HDD u want, maybe even if u want case mods? Take a peek at my avatar. He did that as well. You can ask anyone on the boards about him. 150% positive feedback lol. In fact he has a post in the newbie section....its pinned. Something about a Modder in the U.S. Go check it out man! Good luck.

You have a 1.6 version.
I do not recommend trying to find a solderless chip for a 1.6 machine.
Also, 1.6 machines need an LPC rebuild done. You have to solder five extra wires on the underside of the mobo from various points to the pinheader.
Plus, there is no D0 hole, it's called an LFRAME hole. There are two on the top and one on the bottom. Different chips are installed in different ways, but I have had great success with the Xenium Ice mod chips on the 1.6 machines.
You will need to use M8 bios on that version of xbox, unless you go with X3 modchip instead. It has it's own type of bios and does not need to use the M8.
If you decide to send your machine out, let me know. The chip is $47.99 plus I get charged $8.00 shipping. I can install the chip for $35.00
You also have to figure out what you want to do about your HD. You can either run with the HD that came with your xbox or upgrade to a larger one.
I highly recommend upgrading, but you can do that at a later time when you have more funds if you wish. I can install Evolution X on your original HD for you at no charge.
