my bro had a softmodded xbox... he was trying to update xbmc and ended up formatting his hdd. i have a modded xbox. is there anyway we could recover his xbox with my modded xbox?

Yes, you can do this with a modchip no probs.. You may not even need to unlock the hdd, sometimes i have to sometimes i don't.. I would stick the drive into your modchipped xbox and then use AIDELUXE to reinstall a softmod and softmod dash.

There are plenty of other methods of getting it working again too but since you have a modchip it may save the day for you both.
