yeah, it's me again Sad
I unmodded the box to do it all over again since it didn't work out.
the SID and the splinter cell gamesaves remained on the HDD, but they don't show in splinter cell to be loaded. The only profile that shows is called "sam"
I also tried to copy them back from the HDD to an USB and back on the HDD, but it didn't help.
I'm not sure if the splinter cell gamesave is the correct one or a regular gamesave - it's calles "SAM_Profile" - maybe the needed splinter cell gamesave didn't remain on the HDD after the unmodding.

is that possible that the SID installer remained after unmodding but not the gamesave?

In that case I'd need to insert the files again on my thumbdrive. The problem is that I meanwhile changed my operating system to win7professional. If i start xplorer 360 now I get an error message that MSVCE71.dll is missing - what's that about? any ideas? is there a xplorer360 version for win7 or is this maybe not even related to win7 and there is something else wrong?

YES - it is - I reinserted the gamesave from the SID and now it works.

solved by using a friends xp computer, but maybe this is of interest for other users.
