I was reading over the manual that came with softmod installer deluxe 5, and I want to make sure that I completely understand how to do everything before I actually do it. Does anybody know if the procedure in Chapter 11 is absolutely necessary, and if I skip over it will it screw up my xbox? Also, I do plan on making backups, so are the only ones that I really should have the MS backup and the eeprom backup? And also, when I go to install the softmod, will it install the custom dashboard like evoX??

You do not need to do the virtual eeprom but it will help to protect the content of the C drive and you will start with the EVOX dash but if you want you can download AID and select a different or more up to date dash.
