I came across an old xbox the other day that someone gave me for free. They had bought it recently and said it was making noise so they bought another. Well I got the thing home and something was loose inside, so I took it apart and found a modchip that had come loose. I've never had a chipped box, but I find that it is a smartxx version 1.

Now I have it reinstalled and working. The guy who chipped it apparently was using evox. I want to ditch this and use xbmc only. Can I just use an aid disk or is there some different things to do than you would with a softmod box?

Also is there a way to get the chip to skip the menu it has and go straight to the dash? I couldn't seem to find much documentation on it at all.

Well today is your lucky day my friend!

Yes, you can most certainly use AID to reinstall the dash on a softmodded xbox with pretty much no hassle!

As for the menu, I'm not quit sure what you mean, but after installing XBMC it should boot right to that dashboard and nothing else unless you edit settings and make it do so.

If you need more info, please let us know and we will get back to you ASAP.

Yes, I've used aid to install a dash on a softmod box plenty of times. I'm wondering if I can use it on this chipped box just the same.

What I mean by the menu is that when it boots, the chip has a menu that apparently lets you choose how you want to boot. It appears that you can install multiple bios images on it, and choose which one to boot. The only one on there is called x2-something, and after you start that, it will boot to evox.

I poked around the drive some, i guess I'll just install xbmc the same way as a softmod, see if it will boot that instead of evox.

Just do a chipped dash install to the E drive and you should be fine.

Since it is an X2 BIOS that its running you might need to get X2 config manager from the AID disk and set that up with your PC.

Yeh AID should save you.. Even if your running a modchip you can still softmod your box (for example if you have a bios which doesnt support multiple banks).. I used to do this for my DEVKIT XBOX..

But since your already modchipped and flashed up just pop in AID and install the dashbaord from the modchip only install options. (sorry its been a while).

Apart from that you should be fine like wes has mentioned.

Thanks for the replies. It turned out to be as simple as I figured it would. I now have xbmc instead of evox running as the dash.

Now I am trying to see if I can bypass this bootloader menu. When I boot it with the chip on it starts up a smartxx menu that lets you choose what bios to boot. I only have one bios on there. It always wants me to choose, and I have to have a genuine microsoft controller plugged in in order to get through it which is lame. I can't seem to figure out how to get it to boot straight in, if that is even possible. If not I'll just have to deal with it.
