ok. so a few weeks ago i softmodded my xbox via hotswapping. everything works great. so i bought another xbox and wanted to do the same thing. problem is about 2 weeks after i did the first hotswap, the motherboard in my pc blew. so no pc to xbox hotswap.
so i read the forums and find out i can do it using xbox to xbox. everything was going fine. i mad a bootable cd with boxplorer and some apps i wanted to install. i boot the disk with the modded system hottswap to the other system and bingo i have acces and can transfer files as i want. now here is the messed up part. my kid was runing around and bumped the controller. im not sure what happend but the unmodded xbox freezes up. so i reconected everything like it should be to start the process over.
now i can still get access to the unmodded system. but i cant seem to transfer any files to the c partition.
i do a little more research and find slayer 2.4. all in one install disk. so i do the hotswapp with the slayer disk in. i try just about every feesable option but it doesnt seem to want to write to my c partition still. it says there are no files in there and for some reason wont write any.
ive tryed everything including reformatring to retail and so on. any help would be much appreciated.

im not exactly sure what you mean. all i know is that when i hotswap xboxes with the slayer disk it shows 0 bytes in the c partition, 3 mil or something in the e partition and nothing in the rest. ive tried using the slayer disk to reformat everything. return to retail and so on. every feesable option on the disk. but it wont write to the C partition. im pretty sure it does the E because as slayer works i can see the numbers change. i dont have a backup of the hdd because my kid messed it up before i could get that far.
but i do have a backup of my other HDD. i also have the old retaail hdd with a softmod on it already from my other xbox as i put a 320 gig hdd in it. i know the Eeproms are different. but maybe there is a way to use the other to help get this done. i dont know.
another thing, slayer has the option to flash bios or tsop, i dont know much about how that works, ill be doing some research on it today, but all that stuff is on the motherboard right? so i cant hottswap and do that cause the disk would be in the already modded xbox, wich i dont want to mess up. i would have to get slayer to run in the one i want flashed right? but for what ever reason it wont read the dvd-rw slayer boot disk.

if it help i have a version 1.1

it will boot original xbox games. but not anything that has been burnt. i have two different dvd drives and ive hooked up both and tried. one is a samsung and the other i am not sure. but i cant get it to boot any install disk so far, but my modded system will.
what did you mean about a virtual drive? i am familiar with virtual drives on my computer but i dont understand how it would apply to an xbox.

ok, so i dowloaded AID 4.something and i boot it in my modded system. i then hotswap to the other. works fine i have acces to the unmodded hdd. as i said before i didnt get a chance to back up the hdd of the new xbox so i figured i would try to copy my C and E partition from my modded system and move it to the other. i can get ftp acces to the unmodded system. problem is i move all the stuff over and im still getting an error 21. i just cant seem to get this to work. please help.

Un hook any Ethernet cables and put in a game that has live play on it, just fire the game up as if your going on line and it should fix your MS dash when it updates so that you can resoftmod.

didnt work. i get an error that says the disk is dirty or damaged. tried it with 3 different live enabled games. this is starting to drive me crazy.i can unlock the hd i can transfer files to and from it but for whatever reason i cant get past this error 21. ive tried using slayer to reformat, ftp to copy backups i have of another original hd to it. nothing i seem to do can get me back to ms dash let alone into any other dash.

If you have a copy of you eeprom then you need to use xboxhdm to build the hard drive from scratch.

If you get the eeprom reader to work then you can use xboxhdm to rebuild the hard drive and resoftmod it, if you get a chip there is no need for any other steps then install chip and boot aid.
