Ok where to start. Got myself a second hand Crystal Xbox from eBay. It's never been chipped or softmodded. When it boots I get the green screen with options for Settings, Xbox Live, Music and Memory. Anyway, how do I go about getting the EEPROM Key so I can install a 200Gb hdd and then softmod that to run XBMC? I've been reading about Dashboards etc but I appear not to have one so how can I get the key? Appears I'm in a vicious circle

Things you will need to buy if you don't have them are:
Splinter cell or 007 or mech assault and a mem card or a compatible flash drive.

Your video tutorial is useful however its outdated so sid 4.0 or sid 5.0 looks different, I would use a better tutorial for upgrading the hdd as well.
Look for my link on upgrading the hdd but yes pretty much you need to softmod the xbox to get the eeprom which should be somewhere in E/backup/ms if you are using sid 4.0, not sure how sid 5.0 is setup. once you have the mod you run flashfxp to acess the information you need. Read on how to upgrade the hdd on my link for more info

As for HDD upgrade if you use chimp you dont need to burn any disk only catch is if your xbox is a 1.6 you need to telnet but thats still simpler then burning a disk that you need to add a bunch of files to.
