Mx Xbox (1.4) works fine for ~8 minutes (sometimes more, sometimes less), I can play any game fine, but then it just turns off randomly. I have to unplug the power cord and plug it back in to get the Xbox to reboot. The power button does not work to turn the Xbox on or off. Also, every time I get it to turn back on it asks me to set the time.

I never modded it or opened the case before this issue. First I tried dusting everything off - it wasn't very dusty at all. That didn't help. Then I scoured dozens of message boards and Google searches for clues of similar problems - I found some similar stories but nothing the same. The best I could figure was to replace the power supply, which I did, but it has the exact same problems.

The other thing people talk about a lot is the MCPX chip but that seems to cause video skipping and lockups, which I never had any of. It's absolutely normal until it just turns off (no output, no light on eject button). I am not a heavy gamer, I would estimate I've played about 300 hours total on the machine.

Any ideas? THANKS!

I found this. Look at situation number 3, that might fix it for you:http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/postt5245.html
