i downloaded XBTool and now what the hell do i do? all i want to change is my fan speed but if anyone can explain the whole thing that would be sweet _________________ XBOX

Basically, you open the BIOS you want to modify, change the fan speed to whatever you like (provided it's 20% to 100%... it won't let you go below 20%), then save it. _________________ The World's Most Awesome Xbox 360 Room

how do i open the bios. should i ftp xbtool over to xbox and open it on my xbox? if not how do i open the bios on my pc? _________________ XBOX

I'm not aware of any version of XBTool that can run on Xbox... you run it on your PC.

Well, you're not opening up the BIOS that's flashed into your modchip. You'll open a COPY of your BIOS. I create my BIOS discs on my PC, so the BIOS images are already on my PC.... I just select the location from inside the XBTool program. After you make the modifications to the BIOS, you'll want to save it. Just open XBtool on your PC and then you should see something that says, "Open" on the XBtool menu. I have only used EVtool, but I am sure it's the same.
Just have a copy of the bios.bin file on you PC HD and then open it like any other file.
You will see an area that says "Fan Speed" 20%
You can experiment with different speeds to see what helps. You can also change other aspects of the bios such as partioning, font colors and such. It's pretty cool.
