Hi guys, I read so many topics, tutorial and guides so far, but still I'm stucked because confused. That's my story.
Two years ago, I bought an used xbox v1.6 with akira2 modchip. The xbox has a 40GB HDD. I left unused till 1 mounth ago. I powered-on the xbox and I enter in the xbox world. But all stuff was old. So here my idea to update everithing and I started to read. Now I need advice.
1) The akira2 has 2 memory banks 256K each and in the bank1 has the evox M8 bios, in the other the Evox M8 v1.6. The 2 banks can be selected via jumpers. In my xbox the jumpers are not present, in this way the bank2 is selected (as I have xbox v1.6). I would like to update the bios, but there are various options: A) I can flash both bank with two equal 256K bios to have a backup if one bak fail. B) I can flash both bank with a 512K bios. Now when my xbox is powered, can I flash one bank and then switching to the other and flash the other without power down the xbox ?
2)I would like to upgrade my hdd to 500Gb and so I will install Evox M8 Plus v1.6 Stealth 137 GB+ in both bank taken from AID 4.31. Do you know if this bios has the eject fix feature?
3)Clearly before flashing the new bios I would backup my old hard drive and eeprom. But after the bios flashing, I have to mount the new hdd and format it with AID4.31, or I have to power up my xbox with the old hard drive and see if the flashing was good ? I mean, are we sure the the stealth version of the bios find the evolution x dash in the old hdd?
4) suppose that I have to install the hdd, how do I have to format my new hdd ?C, E, F, G or just the first 3 partition, and partion G after installing evolution x dashboard with xbpartitioner ?
5) When I have to lock unlock my new HDD in the process above, after or before installing evolution x.
6) The akira 2 modchip can be disabled, so I have olso to install the original MS dash otherwise I think nothing start? So where do I have to install the original ? In the C partition ?
7) Is better partitioning with F and G haveng the same size or F 137GB and G take the rest ?
Is there any step by step guide wich explain step by step the all process of updating xbox chip and hdd?
Please answer I'm loking forward to play with my old, but new for me xbox. You're the only one who can help me.

Welcome to the XBOX-HQ, we hope you enjoy this and all the other HQ sites we have to offer.
1) Your safe bet is to keep the second bank as evox M8 so if anything went wrong with the flash you will have a fail safe in place.
In order to use an hdd that size all you need is a BIOS that supports or has LBA48 and i think the M8 bios has that (xboxpartitioner will let you know if your bios supports the LBA48 or not) so the next thing you will need is the new cut of xbox partitioner 1.1 to build the hdd with the F drive at 137GB and the rest on G.
B) I would not combine the banks since this give you no way to boot if the flash fails.
2) Not sure but the the only BIOS i know using the eject fix is the X-2 BIOS.
3) With a mod chip the xbox will over look the eeprom but the new BIOS should still look for your dash in the same place as the old one since that procedure has not changed for most BIOS unless your running X-2 config and it tells the BIOS to look somewhere else.
4) You would just run the AID one click install for larger HDDs and run xboxpartitioner 1.1 to add any space that might be left over to the G drive.
5) you can lock the HDD when ever you want since a chipped xbox wont need to be locked to operate.
6) The aid one click install will take care of adding the MS dash files to the appropriate place for you.
7) Again aid should take care of that for you but if not then F 137GB and G take the rest is the way to go.
