Ok so i have a softmodded xbox with an upgraded 250 gb hard drive loaded with tons of aplications and backups of all of my xbox games, life was great lol. But then one tragic day while i was trying to reset my xbox with the triggers, backm, and start option but instead of resetting i clicked start on the xbox live option. Now it only loads the MS Dashboard. I wasn't worried at first, i remembered this happening before and all i had to do was reload the splinter cell exploit and reinstall my softmod. Only when i tried it this time i doesn't work. When i try to click on the load checkpoints in the linux profile on splinter cell, it simply restarts the game. I need to know what i need to do to fix this. I have heard you can reformat the xbox's c partition, but how can i do this without the evox soft mod menue? Is there an easier way, or maybe a tutorial for reformatting the c partition or something?

Also on a professional note, there are devices which let you hook hard drives to your computer via the the usb port, can you do this instead of ftping?

PS: I am sorry if anyone has already posted a simular question, i looked through the subjects and didn't see anything. And thanks for your help.

Try putting in AID or use halo 2 to update the dash with xbox live. (disconnect the net cable first)

No if you hook the HDD up to the xbox it will only see 4 GB of space no matter how bigg the HDD is.

Yeah I tried to load the AID disk, but because it is no longer technically softmodded it will not read the disk. As far as using halo 2 to update my my dash with xbox live, that is what got me into trouble in the first place; I don't know if that will bring my mod back but i will try. And i don't think i understand, was the second part of your reply to my question of connecting a hard drive to the computer instead of ftping? So you say if i put all the files on the larger hard drive with the computer usb plug in, the xbox will only recognize 4 gb of space?

OK look the hdd in your xbox is in a format called fatx and your PC hdd is not so you cant just swap them back and forth.

As for rebuilding your C drive by itself you need the xbox .bin file so do you have a copy of that?

Yeah i have a copy of the xbox c and and the latest MS dash, and i have the xboxhdm program. I have everything i need to reformat my c partition to the original microsoft standards. I just wanted to know if there was another way to go about doing it. At first i needed help finding the c copy and the ms dash but i found it so no problems there (as long as it is all there). As far as the hard drive question i had asked about, it was seperate. I was mearly asking for future reference if you could use the tool found here http://www.compusa.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2477926&Sku=V13-1113 , to add programs from your computer to a HD without having to ftp. Sorry for any confusion. Any way thanks for your help, i will just reformat the drive and get back to you if that doesn't work. Thanks again.

Ok never mind that last one. I got all the way to building the C drive. It says it is building it, but it is takeing forever.. Could this just be because it is a 250 gig HD?

Could be, it will take some time and the more you had on the old HDD the longer it will take.
