Hi all
for the last month or so i got a self-modded XBOX (v1.6, softmodded with SID 5, and installed XBMC as dash using AID 4), but now i assigned myself a new mission: mount a backup game in a *.iso file format (trough a daemon tools application) and run it.
I know it is possible because a mate of me got an xbox capable of doing so. The only problem is that he paid someone to mod his xbox so he doesn't know any technical information.
The other reason that I believe this is the app call nkpatcher which cleary states: “* Virtual CD/DVD drive, play games directly from ISO images on the hard drive.” (http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=230608)
I've read that the latest version of SID (v5) got nkpatcher build in “This is basically a combination of SID 3.1 and 4.5 in what it does, however the PBL (Phoenix BIOS Loader) Softmod method has been removed and only uses NKPatcher 11.” (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=418587), but when I goto the .iso file trough the “my programs” section in XBMC I cant even see it.
I then tried to put a file called “attach.xbe” from a program called: “driveimageutils-v1.0.1” next to the .iso file but when I run it, my screen goes black for a couple of seconds, and after that XBMC reboots.
Next I've read somewhere the problem lies that I modded my xbox with the “with virual c” option, which is not compatible for some reason. So I un-modded my xbox an modded it again using the “standard” option with no improvements whatsoever.
The other strange thing is that I have a “Q” drive in my XBOX which has the same amount of free space as my stock E drive... this might be the virtual drive? If so how do I set-up XBMC to mount the .iso file and not the E drive?
Has anybody got a solution for me? Should I patch the kernel again with nkpatcher? Or is there a plugin for the file explorer which makes the mounting of the .iso file possible?
Or is the problem XBMC? Should I switch to another dash?

Lets start with the easy one first, Q drive is your E drive.
XBMC make a mirror of your E drive as kind of a shortcut to to the XBMC files.
I think its some ndure softmod that runs the ISO off the HDD but its not saving you all that much space why not just unpack the ISO with QWIX and put the files in your games folder and run it that way?

i tried QWIX as you suggested and it worked needed to install avalaunch as an app to get it to work propperly (the speed decreased after start to ,1 kb/s) but after that no problems!
thnx a lot for the help!
next step: upgrade the HD to a 160gb one
