Hi All,
Just a word of warning - I'm a noob to modding and to XBox. I recently bought a refirbished XBox from Ebay along with an Action Replay which included a memory card.
I put the SID on the card via Action Replay but when I put the memory card in the XBox controller, the XBox doesn't recognize the memory card when I go into the Memory menu option.
Is there something I'm doing wrong? Is there some setting that I need to set? Is there some sequence of button presses I need to perform in order to get the XBox to give me the option to read the memory card?
Thanks a lot.

Welcome to the HQ man, we hope you enjoy the site.
The card might just need to be formatted with the AR software, is it an MS mem card?

Hi, thanks for the welcome.
The card came with the AR device and the AR box says its for the XBox. I've formatted the card with the AR software and put something from my computer onto the card using the AR software. I then put the card in the XBox controller, turned on the XBox, went to the Memory menu option and expected to see the memory card in the upper-left corner of the screen but it did not appear.
So far, I've tried putting the memory card into three different working controllers with the same results so I think it's safe to say it's not a controller issue. I also tried it with the controller in each of the four ports with no luck. My next step is to buy a Microsoft memory card in the hopes that it's simply a problem with the memory card that comes with AR. But I'm pretty convinced (although I have no real evidence and no real experience) that it's the controller hub (not sure I'm using the correct terminology here - I mean the thing that the controller gets plugged into - the port).
Any other opinions or feedback are most welcome.
Thanks for your reply.

Wes, I appreciate the reply. But I can't seem to find a way to do what you suggest. Action Replay doesn't give me an option to format the memory card in different format types. I tried uninstalling the Action Replay software and related drivers so that, when plugging in the USB cord, Windows would recognize it as a generic "usb mass storage device" , which it does, but it doesn't map it to a drive for me to format. Any advice on how to do what you suggest?
Thanks again.

Just wanted to let everyone know that the problem I encountered was due to a bad memory card that came with Action Replay. I went to a game shop nearby and they sold me a used Microsoft 8MB memory card for $4 and that worked like a charm. I now have a modded XBox with XBMC and love it.
Thanks to Wes for taking the time to reply.

No prob man I'm happy to see you got it going, the truth is like 60 to 70 % of real soft mod problems come from a bad or off brand card.
Seems like it wouldn't be a big difference but some how it is.
